+ SWIMMING ■SPECIAL TO THE I'RESS.I GREYMOUTH, February 15. Messrs K. Griffen, W. Payne, and W O'Loary (Greymoulh Club), A. Vincent (Cobden), C. M. Robertson and W. Keesing (Weslport) left today for Christchurch, where they will compete at the New Zealand swimming championship meeting. J;. a y ne . and Keesing will compete in the diving championship, Robertson in the Annette Kellerman Cup race, and O'Lcary, Griffen, and Vincent in handicap events. Mr G. Walters also left to-dav for Christchurch to act as delegate from the West Coast centre at the annual conference of New Zealand delegates. Greymouth Surf Club At a meeting of the Greymouth Surf and Life-Saving Club, Mr J. B. Kent orcsided Advice was received from the Greymouth Harbour Board that the club had been granted control of the Blaketown beach, with the right to appoint a beach inspector. . It was decided to advise the West Coast Swimming Centre that the club did not approve of the river swimming race being held on February 25—the same clay as the club's demonstration. Flower Show The annual summer show of St John's Horticultural Society was held in St. John's Hall yesterday. .Large entries were received and the quality of the blooms exhibited was very high. Results were as follows: Special Prizes—Most points in decorative section, Miss N. Tennent; run-ner-up, Mrs F. M. Dennehy; most points in vegetable section, Mrs G. Wilson; runner-up, Mrs F. M. Weddings The wedding was celebrated at Grcymouth this week of Ethel May, daughter of Mrs and the late Mr W. Rivers, of Greymouth. and formerly of Reefton, and James Albert Spillane of Reefton. The bride was attended by Miss C. Fox. Mr E Spillane was best man. The Rev. Father Holohan performed the ceremony, and also celebrated Nuptial Mass. Mr and Mrs Spillane left afterwards by car for Christchurch. The wedding was celebrated at the Sacred Heart Church, Reefton, by the Rev. Father Seymour, cf Martha, youngest daughter of Mr Mark and the late Mrs O'Donoghue, of "The Villa," Clondalkin, Dublin, and Thomas Casserley, eldest son of Mr and Mrs V. J. Sullivan, Criterion Hotel, Reefton. The bride wore a plain tailored peacock-blue dress and hat to tone, and carried a white prayer book. She was attended by her sister, Mrs P. J. Molloy and Mr P. J. Molloy acted as best man. Wedding music was played by Miss Daphne Smythe. A reception was afterwards held at the residence of the bride's sister. At St. Stephen's Church the Rev. W. Bell officiated at the marriage of Audrey Pauline, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Sparkes, of Reefton, to Henry Theodre, eldest son of Mr and Mrs F. Kearns, of Reefton. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock of pink elephant crepe with Irish lace sleeves and a smart cape trimmed with buttons. Miss Betty Sparkes, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and Mr Frank Kearns. brother of the bridegroom, was best man. After the" ceremony a reception was held at Joseph's Tea Rooms. Mr and Mrs Kearns left by train for Christchurch. Mrs Kearns travelled in a smart green frock, with hat and shoes to tone and a grey summer coat. Nelson Land Board Mr A. F. Waters, Commissioner of Crown Lands, presided at the meeting of the Nelson Land Board this week. It was resolved to offer sections GOT, Cfi3. GBS, Reefton, for lease by public auction at an upset annual rental of £2 ss, and to cancel section 1, block XVI., Maruia survey district area, of 599 acres, held by B. T. Mitchell. Agricultural and Pastoral Association The president (the Rev. Father Seymour) occupied the chair at a meet.ing of the committe of the Inangahua

Agricultural and Pastoral Association. Mr T. Dellaca notified his intention of giving a trophy to the vegetable seclion. A letter was received from Mr J. Metson, accepting the position of judge for the school section. Stewards were appointed as follows:—Sections 1 and 2, Messrs H. Campbell, J. B. Discaciati, and the Rev. W.Bell; section 3, the Rev. Father Seymour. Mesdames Discaciati and Pratt, and Miss Arnott; section 4, Mesdames Bell and Campbell, Miss Floyd; section 5, Mrs T. Patterson. Miss O'Brien. Mr Gillett; poultry, Messrs Lawn, Dellaca, and Wylie: sports, Messrs T. C. Hepburn and E. S. Clark, the Rev. Father Spring, and Dr. Marshall. It was left to Mr H. Campbell to arrange for the judge and piper for the dancing section. Mr Baxter was appointed nightwatchman, and Mrs Discaciati judge cf the children's hand work section.
