Cross, T. O. Newnham, W. J. Walter, W. G. Chapman, and W. Price. The county foreman reported that the north road, from the city boundary to Northcote road, had been sealed 18 inches wide, and the sides had been blinded. From the Northcote road to the new bridge the sides "had been made up with half-an-inch of screenings where required. Marshland road had been treated similarly. Wairarapa road, from Bligh's road to eight chains past Aorangi road, had been sealed for a distance of about 35 chains, and the sides had been blinded with clay.

Cleaning of the Styx river from the railway to Gardiner's road was almost complete, and a start had been made clearing the reserve at Sawyers Arms road for tree-planting. The electrical engineer (Mr C. Burrowes) reported that during January live additional consumers and 14 extensions to existing installations were connected to the supply. The total connected load for the month was 56.212 kilowatts. Travis Road Conditions The county clerk (Mr G. S. The matter had been discussed and general disapproval of the request had been expressed. It had been left to the chairman, Mr Walter, and the county clerk to interview Mr F. Langbein (district public works engineer), with power to act. The interview had resulted in Mr Langbein agreeing to recommend the board to accept the council's share of payments, pro irata, as progress payments were made to the contractor, the payments to be made within seven days of demand; to reduce the width of sealing from 20ft lo 18ft, and to leave one chain of road for experimental construction. The report was adopted.
