N.Z. SOCIETY OF CIVIL ENGINEERS

FORTHCOMING CONEEKENCE The annual conference of the New Zealand Society of CiviL Engineers, which is to be held in Dunedin next week, will probably be attended by several Christchurch engineers, stated Mr E. Hitchcock, manager of the Municipal Electricity Department, when questioned by a reporter of The Press" last evening. The society, the only one of its kind registered by legislation in the Dominion, was nominally for the one branch of engineering only, but actually several mechanical and electrical engineers belonged to So'far as Mr Hitchcock knew there were about 40 members of the society in Christchurch. At the conference numerous papers on technical and semi-technical subjects would be read and discussed. Then several social functions would be held, and trips to prominent works had been arranged, including a visit to the Waitaki hydroelectric works.
