MEETING OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE At a meeting of the executive committee of the Pioneer Sports Club there were present: Mr C. H. Taylor, jun., chairman, Messrs T. Searell, R. C. Symes, Angus Donaldson, P. R. Harman, R. H. Parker, E. J. Bradshaw, C. Bonnington, F ( . W. Simons, A. D. Tench, R Gracie, A* J. Harper, and H. L. York. Mr Bradshaw, reporting on behalf of the motor section, stated that since the previous meeting of the committee the inter-club rally had been held at Ashburton at which there had been a large attendance of motorists. A very full programme of competitive events had been held, and two firsts and two seconds had been won by representatives of the club. Last Saturday week the motor section had held the annual hill-climbing championships, for which record entries had been received. He referred to the generosity of Mr Sutherland in allowing the club the use of his property for the hill climbs, and suggested that a letter of appreciation be forwarded from the club to Mr Sutherland. A social run had been held to Loburn last Sunday. The major reliability trial, for which good entries had been received, would be held over the week-end, starting from tne club house at 2 p.m. next Saturday and finishing the following evening at 5.23. On March 10 a grass track meeting would be held on the New Brighton trotting grounds, for wi:ich he submitted the programme. The report was adopted, and the recommendations submitted were approved. Athletic Section Mr Gracie, reporting on behalf of the athletic section, referred to the performance of T. G. Broadway in winning the half-mile title in one of the best runs ever seen in New Zealand, and in also retaining his quarter-mile title at the recent Canterbury championships. In the annual relay match for the Etevencaux Cup between Wellington and Christchurch, held on January 13. the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club team had had another win. The club would be represented at the Australian and New Zealand athletic championships, to be held in Sydney next Thursday, by D. G. Simpson and T. Thompson. The report was adopted, and it was decided to send a letter congratulating Mr Broadway upon his double success in the championships. The chairman stated that the challengers for the Sanders Cup had been entertained by the club at a social function in the club rooms, at which they were welcomed by representatives of practically the whole <>£ the local amateur sports bodies. He reported that the special committee that had been set up to go into the proposal for one central headquarters for all amateur sports bodies had been function- < ing untiringly, and would meet again | on Wednesday evening lo consider plans of the building, which would be submitted to the meeting by Mr Cecil Woed. The club had elected the visiting swimmers who would be competing in the New Zealand swimming championships, to be commenced next Saturday, to honorary membership of the club during their stay here. The report was received and endorsed. New Members The following new members were elected: Messrs B. D. Lyon, S. Moore, P. N. Smith, C. J. M. Calder, A. M. | Laurenson, J. R. Bourne, S. Mechen, G. A.
