DARGAVILLE, February 12. An accident which caused the death of Kenneth Benfleld Hamlin, aged 24 years, a single man, took place at Aoroa, a small river settlement, late on Saturday evening. Hamlin, who was employed at a Dargaville store, was returning home after work on a motor-cycle. It is surmised that owing to a particularly heavy fog lie ran past his proper turning and that while in the act of turning back he ran into a telegraph post. He suffered severe head injuries and was found unconscious a little later by a neighbour who also was returning home. An ambulance was summoned from Dargaville, and Hamlin was removed to the Public Hospital, where he died this morning without regaining consciousness.
