DAMAGES AWARDED

COLLISION AT KARORI j :pr.r.ss association •it'-icr.ku.) WELLINGTON, February 10. Damages amounting to £355 9.3 6d were awarded to Edward Herbert Brooker, a motor engineer, of Wellington, by a jury in the Supreme Court in a claim arising out of a collision between a motor-cycle and a motor-car at the corner of Parkvale road and Friend street, Karori, on June 21, 1933. Brooker, the rider of the motor-cycle, took proceedings against Alfred Allen Hewitt, a clerk, alleging negligence. The jury returned a majority verdict after a four-hour retirement, holding that the effective cause of the accident was the negligence of the defendant.
