♦ HARBOUR BOARD 'SPECIAL TO THE TKBSS.' j GREYMOUTH, February 8. At the monthly meeting of the Greymouth Harbour Board, Mr P. J. McLean presided. Opportunity was taken to welcome back the secretary (Mr W. B. Gilbert), who had been absent through ill-health for some time. The Treasury Department remitted wharfages and special rate on coal £630 7s lOd, and £1 0s lOd wharfage and special rate on State coal £531 lis, and royalties i' 47 10s. Mr Howard Knight wrote referring to the delay in the delivery of ironbark timber ordered by the board through him, asking that the board take the circumstances of the delay into consideration before imposing the penalty. It was decided, on the motion of the chairman, to hold the penalty over until the engineer reported on the quality of the timber. It was decided that the Greymouth Borough Council be asked to give further consideration, after March 31, to the; reduction of water charges for shipping. j The finance committee recommended that accounts totalling £1943 9s 4d be passed for payment. Hospital Extension Members of all local bodies in the Grey district atetnded a meeting convened by the Greymouth Hospital Board to discuss the board's proposals to extend the Grey River Hospital at a cost oi £30,000. and to go into the matter of the dividing up among the local bodies of the annual charge on the loan, half of which is to be paid by the Health Department. At the meeting it was stated that an offer from a Christchurch business man to lend the £30,000 required had been received by telephone. It was decided that the meeting send forward a resolution urging the Government to consider the advisability of meeting hospital levies out of the Consolidated Fund or by some other equitable method. Cobden Town Board At the monthly meeting of the Cobden Town Board, it was resolved that the chairman, Mr A. H. McKane, go as the board's representative to Wellington as soon as possible to discuss the difficulty regarding differentiation in rating that has occurred in the arrangements for the amalgamation of the Greymouth Borough and Cobden. It was decided to offer 110 objection to the raising of the Hospital Board's £30,000 loan, to which the Cobden Town Board will be a contributing body in meeting the interest charges. Greymouth Aero Club At. a meeting of the executive committee of the Greymouth Aero Club. Mr F. A. Kitchingliam presided. It was decided to ask the Director of Air Services whether the proposed emergency landing ground at Greymouth should be at the hospital ground or at Cobden. ; REEFTON MEWS OBITUARY T.J I'RES?.; I REEFTON, February 8. j The death has occurred at the Grey- j mouth Hospital of Mr Laurie Mori, a) the age of 64 years. Mr Mori, who was a native of Waipuna, haa been ill for the last two months. He was for some years storeman for the Blackball Coal Company, and lately had been nightwatchman for the same company. Mr Mori was predeceased by his wife some 20 years ago. Messrs V. Mori and C. Mori, of Reefton, are brothers. Wedding The marriage took place this week, at the Wesleyan parsonage, Reefton, uf Evelvn, onlv daughter of Mr and Mrs J. *H. Wearne, Black's Point, to Cyril, eldest son of Mr and Mrs Frank Simims, of Pinxton, England. The Rev. C. Duncan was the officiating minister. A reception was held at the residence of the bride's parents. Ministerial Visit Mr K. J. Ilolyoake, member of Parliament for Motucka, has some some time been urging the Prime Minister (the Kt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) and Cabinet Ministers to visit the Motucka electorate and become conversant with the industries of the districts. Mr Holyoake has received a reply from Mr Forbes, stating that the requests have been noted, and trusting that he and a party of Ministers will be able to visit the electorate in the near future. j
