NEW ZEALAND AIR INSTITUTE
. TO 1118 BDITOII Of THE fRTSS. Sir,—l was quite thrilled to read an announcement in the paper the other day to the effect that the New Zealand Air Institute had been formed to give a weekly programme from 3ZM. On Sunday night, anticipating "something different," I prepared to listen in. I got "something different." One of the evils of radio programmes is the indifferent way they are usually thrown at you. The voice in speech over the air is of paramount importance, the whole effect can be spoilt by the voice of the person presenting the programme. Great art. music, literature, and the drama can only be presented properly by individuals who have made a special study, or who have a special love of them. This applies to any form of programme presented. I enjoyed the programme very much. Its presentation was satisfying. It reached a fine crescendo in the play. The music chosen, both of the records and the trio, was very beautiful. One was aware all through of the sadness that seems to envelop Russia. —Yours, etc.. ASCOLTO. February 5, 1934.
