TENSE SITUATION IN SPAIN
THREAT OF FASCISM WORKERS JOIN SOCIALIST PARTY (united rrißss association—by electric TELEGRAM—COPYRIGHT.) (Received February 5, 10.40 p.m.) LONDON, February 5. The Madrid correspondent of the "Daily Herald" says that Spain is passing through the most critical hour since the overthrow of the monarchy. On the one hand are the forces of Fascism under General Robles, who is publicly denouncing the republican regime. On the other hand are the forces of Socialism under Senor Indalecio Prieto, who declared on Sunday that the workers would soon be the masters of Spain. The tension is increasing, and the situation is leading all workers to fall in line under Senor Prieto to work together against the Fascists. Socialist newspapers are calling desperately on the Liberals to defend what the revolution has gained. There have been many acts of terrorism throughout Spain. Nine trams have been set ablaze in the streets of Barcelona in 15 days.
