FUNERAL
MK HENRY HARRINGTON Tnere \\;as a large attendance at the funeral of Mr Henry Harrington, of 563 Cashel street, whose death occurred suddenly last week at the age of 75.
i Mr Harrington was born at Chertsey, England, and came to Lyttelton in the i ship Waitangi in 1879. For many • years he followed his trade as an iron ■ moulder with various firms, after i which lie joined the staff of the Canterbury College School of Art as an attendant, remaining there for 27 years and retiring in 1923. He was something of a personality at the school, and his kindly nature endeared him to the students. He was painted by Mr Archibald F. Nicoll, and the portrait was exhibited all over New Zealand as an outstanding piece of work. Mr Harrington was a member of the Loyal Perseverance Lodge, 1.0.0 F. M.U., Woolston, from the time of his arrival in New Zealand. He was an earnest supporter of the Methodist Church, being the first secretary of the trust when the Linwood Methodist Church Hall and JSunday School was erected in 1896. He remained in office until the time of his death, being the senior steward, and holding the offices of trustee and ifturch steward, and having the honour of laying one of the foundaj ticn stones of the new Methodist Church in Cashel street. Linwood. He leaves a widow, who was the second daughter of Mr John Stanley, of Harev.'cod, two sons, Messrs S. and H. Harrington, four grandchildren, and a brother. Mr William Harrington. Services at the Linwood Methodist Church and the graveside were conducted by the Rev. F. Greenwood and the Rev. E. Drake. The pall-bearers J were Messrs W. C. Francis. D. Wors- j fold. J. Walls, G. Ellis (.church officers), and R. Wallwork and W. T. Trethewey 'School of Art). Floral tributes were sent by wife and family, Mr and Mrs Hockey and Emily, Mr and Mrs J. D. Bundy, Uncle Jack and Cyril, Neil and Eric, Myrtle and Cecil, church stewards (Linwood Methodist), trustees, officers, and members of Linwood Methodist Church, teachers and scholars of Sunday School and Bible Classes of Linwood Sunday School, members of Ladies' Guild (Linwood Methodist). Linwood Methodist Choir, director and staff of the School of Art, Mr and Mrs A. F. Nicoll, North Canterbury Methodist Sunday School Union. Chrysanthemum Club (Linwood), employees of S.
