MOSLEMS REVOLT

Government Building

Attacked

TROOPS FIRE ON MOB

(tHITID PHES3- ASSOCIATION—BY ELICTRIC TELBGBAPH—COrTRIOHX.)

(Received February 4, 8.50 p.m.)

CALCUTTA, February 3. A mob of 800 Moslems at Srinigar (Kashmir) overpowered the police and attacked the Government building. The mob attempted to storm the treasury, which was only saved from destruction by the arrival of troops, who were compelled to open fire. The mob was dispersed but many were killed and wounded. Early in the day a huge procession was held. This had previously been banned. The trouble was due to Moslem discontent at the delay in introducing political reforms recommended by the Glancy committee in 1932. •
