NO CLERGY AT THE CHATHAMS

That there is still no resident clergyman aH the Chatham Islands is mentioned by the Bishop of Christchurch in his letter to the February issue of the "Church News." Bishop WestWatson wrote:-"We have still no clergyman for the Chathams. I have not felt able to accept a very generous offer made by one of our clergy, as I think that he ought not to leave New Zealand, but I appreciate it greatly. Canon and Mrs Parr, however, have undertaken to visit the island during the vacation and this will be a great help; none will appreciate it more than Mr Lane, who has been, as a lay reader, carrying on the work so well."
