NINE ROWING EVENTS

DUNEDIN, February 3.

The Otago Jubilee Regatta was held at Port Chalmers this afternoon in perfect weather before an attendance of close on 6000. The nine rowing events were the feature of the day. The Port Chalmers Club was the most successful with four first places, Invercargill Railway coming second with three first places, and Queen's • Drive third with one first place. Port Chalmers secured 16 points and won the aggregate cup, Queen's Drive being second with 12J points and Invercargill Railway third with 11 points. The Walker and Hall Cup was won by Invercargill Railway Club, the Teacher's Cup by Port Chalmers, the Aulebrook Cup by Queen's Drive, and the Johnny Walker Cup by Invercargill Railway. The prize money was distributed as follows: Port Chalmers £36 10s, Invercargill Railway £2l 10s, Queen's Drive- £l6 10s, North End £2, Avon (Christchurch) £1 ss. A light wind made tho wntor lively, but Ihis did not interfere with the rowing. Results: —

SANDERS CUP CONTEST FIRST RACE TO-DAY The first race of the Sanders Cup contest will be held this afternoon, commencins,' at 2 o'clock. The Sanders Cup conference 'will meet at 9 o'clock this morning, in the Lyttelton Council Chambers, when formal business will be transacted. To-night an informal reception will be given to the visiting crews, delegates, and supporters at the Pioneer Sports Club in Christchurch. This will be followed by a dance at the Tudor Cabaret. A special train will leave Christchurch for Lytte'lton at 12.45 a.m. On Saturday evening the visitors were entertained at a dance in the Lyttelton Club hall by the Canterbury Yacht and Motor-Boat Association. OFFICIALS AI'POINTD A meeting of the Sanders Cup Conference was held yesterday, those present being Messrs G. R. Curtis (Canterbury), chairman, M. Smith (Canterbury). V. J. Bißgs (Southland), E. K. S. Pasley (Southland), W. J. Keane (Wellington), B. J. Jukes (Wellington), A. Chalis (Otago), and J. T. Hobbs (secretary). The following officials were appointed for the contest: —Judges, Messrs ChCalis, Keane, and Smith; starter, Mr Jukes; deputy-starter, Mr W. J. Toomey; time-keeper, Mr H. G. Ostler: measurers, Messrs Smitn, Jukes, and Pasley. I'ICNIC HELD Yesterday the visiting yachtsmen, officials, and .supporters were entertained at a picnic at Ripa Island by the Canterbury Yacht and MotorBoat Club. The picnic was one or the most successful held by the club. Passenger launches and a large fleet ■ of boats and yachts conveyed about 300 persons across the harbour. Sports, sailing races, and games filled in the day.
