RAILWAY TRAFFIC INCREASES

A noticeable increase in the number of passengers travelling during Christmas week and the revenue obtained in the same period, as compared with tho corresponding week last year, are shown in the railway traffic returns for Auckland, for the week ended December 23. An increase of 6506 passengers travelled by rail during tho period, and the number of season tickets sold was higher by 72. The increase in total revenue was £7328, or about 20 per cent., and revenue from the sale of passenger tickets was greater by £1522.
