RED LETTER DAY IN MANCHUKUO

EMPEROR TO BE CROWNED IN MARCH NEW TREATY WITH JAPAN (UHITKD PRESS ASSOCIATION —i> V ELECTKIC TELBOaArH COI'TKIGUT.) (Received December 28, 10.20 p.m.) PEKING, December 27. March 1, 1934, is likely to be a red letter occasion in the annals of Manchukuo, for three important events are set down for that date. They are the enthronement of MiHenry Pu Yi, as Emperor; the promulgation of a monarchical constitution similar to Japan's; and the conclusion of a new treaty further strengthening the ties between Manchukuo and Japan. A 10,000 dollar throne, representing a combination of ancient Chinese craftsmanship and ultra-modern comfort, equipped with special springs, has been built in Japan for the future Emperor's use.
