The main telephone cable between New Brighton and the city is to be taken down from the posts on which it runs at present and, after being given a protective coating of bitumen, relaid underground. It is considered that the cable has ample accommodation for the demands likely to be made on its capacity for a considerable time, and that underground it will tf.'ve years more service than it would on the posts.
