A meeting of West Coast sawinillers has been convened and will be held at Hokitika on January 24, to consider the report on the state of the Australian Umber market, presented by Messrs D. Reese and J. W. Callwell. ft is expected that the improvement in demand will definitely commence at the pnd of January, and sawmillers intend to decide in advance on a trading policy. Railway Worker Injured. Stanley Smith, married, was admitted to the Grey River Hospital on Monday evening with head injuries sustained in an accident while he was working on the repair of the wash-out on the Midland railway line near Dobson. Walter Henry Mulroy, 29, single, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment for obtaining goods to the value of 15s 2d from Haglund Bros., grocers, of Greymouth, by false pretences. The police stated that Mulroy had had a telephone message sent to the store purporting to come from the Greymouth Labour Bureau authorising the goods to be given to him. Mr W.
