A last request to her friends, made by a woman who died recently m England, was that instead of sending flowers for her funeral they should provide trees to beautify a housing estate in the district where she had lived. Among the many activities she had engaged in was this voluntary scheme for the provision of houses for occupier-owners. A daughter of the woman stated that she was carrying out her in other's wish by inviting friends to give lilac, almond, and cherry trees in place of floral tributes. The new houses in which her mother was so interested were nearing completion, sl>; said, and trees would not only be a lasting memorial to her, but would also greatly improve the amenities of the estate.
