FUNERAL

MR J. M'CORMACK

The funeral of Mr James McCormack, a former licensee of the Leeston Hotel, and a well-known and popular figure in racing circles, was held yesterday morning. The Rev. Father McDonald, S.M., celebrated Requiem Mass at St. Mary's Church, Manchester street, and there were 15 priests in the sanctuary during the service. The pall-bearers were members of the executive of the Canterbury Licensed Victuallers' Association, Messrs A. J. Lambert, J. O. McGillivray, J.. M. Coffey, H. Chivers, T. Quirk, and A. Barrett. The Rev. Father O'Connor conducted the service at the graveside in the Linwood cemetery. The chief mourners were Mr Robert McCormack (a son) and Mrs B. McEvedy, Mrs O. Craighead and Mrs J. Sullivan (daughters). Wreaths were sent by Hicks and Ainger, Leeston Hotel staff, Mr and Mrs Arthur Rose, Mr and Mrs Morgan O'Brien, J. Shand, Ltd., R. and T. Kelliher, Izard and Loughnan, manager and staff of Quill Morris, Mr and Mrs E. G. McCullough, Wright and Co., Captain Frictor, New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., Licensed Victuallers' Association, A. Hughes, L. Matson, and C. Cauldwell, Mr and, Mrs C. I. Spillane (Wanganui), Mrs Riordan (Leeston), Mr and Mrs G. P, Payne, Mr and Mrs A. M. Chivers, New Brighton friends, staff of Smith and Smith, Ltd., and Tottie, Birdie, and Maisie.
