OPAWA-HILLSBOROUGH BURGESSES
Mr F. H. Dephoff presided at the monthly meeting of the Opawa-Hills-borough Burgesses' Association. The chairman reported that the Railway Department had agreed to shift the gates, giving access to Richardson terrace, back to a less dangerous position, and that the approach signs to the railway viaduct had been improved. The Christchurch City Council wrote advising that tar-sealing in the district would be given further attention, as funds permitted. The reply relating to the macadam dump was considered unsatisfactory, and it decided to wait on the engineer's department about this matter. It was reported that the owner of a section where through traffic was considered a danger had been asked to fence. f It was decided to draw the Heathcote County Council's attention to b' channel in south Opawa road, which was considered objectionable, and also to the state of Hills road, near Avoca Valley. The chairman undertook to see the postal authorities about pillar-box clearances in the same locality.
