An outsized eel, more than 181b in weight, landed by a New Plymouth fisherman recently, provided its captor with strenuous sport. The eel, which was 4ft 3in long, was hooked in a deep pool in a stream at Okoke, where a quantity of unwanted skim milk was regularly drained. For three-quar-ters of an hour it was played on a light line, the fisherman's hands being severely cut in the process.
