TASMAN FLIGHT
MR ULM TO LEAVE ON NOVEMBER 20 landing place not yet DECIDED (rr.£S3 ASSOCIATION TILEGHit.) WELLINGTON, November 10. A cable message from Mr C. T. P. Ulm that he intends to cross the Tasman in the Faith in Australia on November 20 has been received by the Vacuum Oil Company. The message states that the landing place has not yet been decided. Mr Ulm will thus arrive in New Zealand during the National Confidence Carnival, and efforts are being made to persuade him to make his first landing at Rongotai. Should these endeavours be successful, it will be the first trans-Tasman flight to end at Wellington, although when Mr Guy Menzies made his solo flight in 1931, he left Sydney with the intention of landing at Rongotai.
It was announced some time ago that if Mr Ulm came to New Zealand the crew of the Faith in Australia would probably be Captain P. G. Taylor (who made the double crossing in the Southern Cross early this year) and Mr G. U. Allen. These two men accompanied Mr Ulm on his recent flight to England and on the record return trip.
