LODGE MEETING
r Noble Grand Sister L. Wilson presided over a lai'ge attendance of sisters and visitors at the last meeting of the Loyal Sister Pearce Lodge. The Noble Grand called for nominations for officers, the following sisters being nominated:—For Noble Grand, Sister M. Brizley; for Vice Grand, Sisters Weavers, J. Houghton, H. Gour'.!ay, M. le Comte; for Elective Secretary, Sister Weavers, J. Houghton, H. Gourlay, D. Laurie, M. Woods, M. Ie Comte, and M. Small. After the lodge meeting supper was; served by the social committee, after | ■which the members danced until a i late hour. |
The skeleton of a baby which was buried about 1600 years ago was found last month under the floor of a Roman house that is being excavated in Verulatrdum, near St. Albans, England. The walls of the house had ■wen uncovered and the excavators were searching through a mass of debris that had been laid down, possibly as a foundation, where the child's skull was discovered. The thin, fragile skull bone was split, and when assembled measured no more than about Bin in diameter. More earth was removed, and the skeleton was revealed, with pieces of mosaic pavement mixed up with the bones. ;
