LONDON MYSTERY
<> HEIR TO INDIAN VICEROY INVOLVED DARK MAN SKIvN ON ROOF (Received October 26, 9.3 p.m.) LONDON, October 26. Scotland Yard is investigating the mystery of a coloured man seen at night recently on the roof of the house occupied by Lord Ratendone, heir of the Viceroy of India (Lord Willingdon), in Victoria square, London. A knife was found on a window ledge. The police say there is no suggestion of a plot against Lord Ratendone. An Australian, Miss Dorota Flatau, who lives in a flat next door, declares that she heard a noise outside, and turning on the light saw a dark figure. The man exclaimed, "Quiet, or I'll shoot.'' Miss Flatau was astounded and hurled a heavy flowerpot, which struck him in the chest. The man threw a brick at her and escaped over the roof into a garden. Lord Ratendone was dining out that night, and when he returned discovered the police searching the premises. He is leaving for India ©n October 30.
