ACCIDENTS
BOY INJURED BY EXPLOSION An 11-year-old boy, Samuel Curria, of 151 Armagh street, had two fingers almost severed yesterday afternoon, when an explosion occurred while he was plaving with a quantity of blasting powder at his home. Currie received no other injuries and an older boy who was with him was not hurt. Currie was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital, where an operation was performed in the evening. His condition was reported to be satisfactory. MAN KILLED OX FARM (r»ESB iS«OCIATIOIf TKLIORAH.) BLENHEIM, October 10. A well-known Hiilcrsden settler, Frank Guyon Newcombe, 63, was killed yesterday when rolling a field. His horses bolted, throwing Newcombe from his seat and dragging the roller over him. The cause of death was a fractured skull.
