"THE MESSENGER BOY"

OPERATIC SOCIETY'S COMEDY The reputation which the Christchurch Operatic Society has gained in the last few years is fully maintained by its production at present at St. James' Theatre, "The Messenger Boy." From beginning to end the presentation goes with a swing, the continued humour being outstanding. In addition there are bright ballets, good music, clever dancing, and finished acting by a well-chosen cast. "The Messenger Boy" is in two acts, with the scene moving from a charity bazaar in London to a quay at Brindisi, from there to Cairo, and finally to Paris. It contains plenty of songs, including "TittleTattle," "Ask Papa," "The Messenger Boy," "Off to Cairo," "Aspirations," "Captivating London," and "In the Wash." Mrs Guy Cotterill, Miss Agatha Sutton, and Miss Molly Fowler, Messrs D. McKivett, Fred Hale, Reg. Lamb, Fred. Pitt, Wyn Cowlishaw, E. T. Sopp, and Clive Hindle are prominent members of the cast, and are adequately supported by the remaining characters. Major F. H. Lampen is the producer, and Mr Alfred Bunz the musical director. The production will finish on Saturday night, with a matinee in the iftemoon.
