ENQUIRY INTO MONETARY SYSTEM URGED (PKESS ASSOCIATION *Z£.EOa.U£.) AUCKLAND, October 4. * The president of the Council oi'ji Christian Congregations (the Rev. WJ[v j W. Aver ill), speaking at the annual" meeting, said there was a definite rethe churches to intervene in the present social and economic confusion. The root cause of the distresses of .to-day was not war, tariffs, or , debts but the selfishness of the existing monetary system, he said. It was the responsibility of the Church to demand a full enquiry into the monetary system of the Dominion and to have resolutions passed at every synod ana union meeting pressing for such an enquiry. There had been enough talk ab° u - Christian principles, he said. What was needed was a definite Christian plat-,: form.
