While giving evidence before the Tariff Commission yesterday, a witness stated that for an exhibit at the Panama Pacific Exposition his firm was awarded a gold medal "Did you ever get that medal?" asked Professor Murphy. "No," replied the witness, "we were told we could gild over the bronze one we did receive." The professor added that he had heard of that sort of thing before. 3.
