MINISTER ADRIFT AT SEA
ADVENTURE FOR MR J. H. THOMAS (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELIS3.) RUGBY, September 13. Mr J. H. Thomas (Secretary of State for the Dominions) and three companions -Were fishing from a motor-launch when the motor failed. A fresh sea was running, which washed over the boat, and the occupants had to bail vigorously. Heavy rain made visibility poor, but the Minister and his _ companions, by tying handkerchiefs to an oar which they waved in the air, attracted the notice of a coastguard, who gave the alarm. The Shoreham lifeboat was launched, and, although darkness was approaching, found the fishing party and took them ashore, cold and soaked, but cheerful.
