ASHBURTON SOCIETY FESTIVAL CONTINUED j The attendances were well maintained at the sessions of the Ashburton Competitions Society's ninth annual festival yesterday, great interest being taken in the Tucker Trophy piano championship, sight-reading, and own selection classes. The recalls for the final this evening were announced. The programme was augmented by two items by Mr C. Gordon Kirk (elocution judge), who gave John Masefield's "Ballad of Cape St, Vincent," and Rudyard Kipling's "The Smuggler's Song." The competitions will be concluded this evening, and will be j followed by demonstration concerts tomorrow evening and Thursday evening.
