DANCE CLUB RAIDED.
QUANTITY OF LIQUOR SEIZED. 'rr.Esj association- ielbciium.) WELLINGTON, July 30. Armed with a search warrant issued under the Licensing Act, a party of police raided Rodney's dance club, a popular rendezvous, early this morning and seized a considerable quantity of liquor, which was later removed in the police van. The raiding party comprised Senior-Sergeant D. Scott and Sergeant C. It. Duke in charge of three constables. All were in plain clothes. Shortly after midnight they called at the club, which is conducted by Mr and Mrs Rodney Pankhiirst, and situated in a no-iicense area and proceeded to carry out a search for liquor. Dancing was in progress when the police arrived, and there were about 20 couples present. The police did not take any names, and no arrests were made.
