The Marine Department advises that the following procedure will be employed in future to show tidal streams" information on all new charts and new editions of charts: —(1) All information relating to tidal streams, whether in the form of tables, or notes giving times of slack waters and rates of streams, will in future be collected at a convenient place on the chart, and referred to by means of a special symbol thus: A in diamond, at the positions for which tidal stream information is given. The letter in the diamond gives the reference to the stream information. (2) No tidal stream information other than this symbol will ever be inserted amongst the soundings, except references to eddies (3) The use of tidal stream arrows will be discontinued. (4) On chart No. 5011 the following cote is to be inserted under the heading "Tides and Tidal Streams," and immediately above H.W.F. and C. IXh 25m, etc. A in diamond, B in diamond, C in diamond, etc.: Chart gives information regarding*the tidal streams at the positions occupied by these symbols. SHOAL IN COOK STRAIT. The Marine Department reports that Captain Henry of the auxiliary scow Taiisman, which arrived in Wellington on Thursday from Waitahu, advises that a shoal patch exists in a position approximately one mile in a south-east by east, three-quarter east magnetic direction from Wellington Head. The position indicated on chart 2685 is 41deg 12$min south, 174deg 24min east, Wellington Head bearing 314deg. FOXTON FOR OVERHAUL. 4 The coastal motor-ship Foxton is to arrive at Lyttelton this morning with cattle from Foxton. She will lay up for annual overhaul. ! CAMBRIDGE FOR FINAL LOADING An arrival at Lyttelton yesterday was the Federal liner Cambridge, Iran Napier. The Cambridge is to complete loading here for London and West Coast ports of the United Kingdom. She is to sail on Wednesday, via Panama and Curacao. THE WAIKAWA. The Union Company's Waikawa is due at Auckland on August 10 from Los Ar.geles. She will also discbarge at Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australian ports. TAMAROA AT SOUTHAMPTON. The Tamaroa, which left Wellington on June 24, arrived at Southampton oa Thursday afternoon. RANGITANE REPORTS. The Eangitane, en route from Loodon, has reported that she expect* to arrive at Auckland at 5 pjn. an Wednesday. THE IRINI. The tanker Irini, en route from Constantinople, is reported to have left Colombo on July 5- for Auckland. She is expected to arrive at Auckland towards the end of this week. CANADIAN CONSTRUCTOR DELAYED. The Canadian Constructor, which arrived at Auckland on Friday, from Montreal, is expected to arrive at Wellington about noon to-day. She will now sail to-morrow from Lyttelton. THE CANADIAN VICTOR. The Canadian National steamer Canadian Victor is scheduled to leave Montreal on July 28 for Auckland. Wellington, Sydney, Newcastle, and Brisbane. WANGANELLA FROM SYDNET. The Huddart, Parker Company's intercolonial motor-ship Wanganella. left Sydney early on Friday afternoon far Wellingotn. No wireless report bad been received from -the vessel up till Saturday afternoon, but there is » possibility that sha -will arrive at Wellington late this afternoon. Her usual time of arrival is Tuesday morning. KATOA SOLD. (hbsb amocuxios nu«»>«) WELLINGTON, July 29 It is understood that the Union Company's steamer Katos. which has been laid up at Wellington for same time, has been sold to Eastern buyers.
