The barometer was falling, and registered 30.25 last evening. Wellington—The week-end was fine. There was bright sunshine on Saturday and yesterday morning, with a cool northerly breeze. In the afternoon the sky clouded over. Dunedin—The weather was fine and sunny on Saturday morning, but overcast and threatening in the afternoon. A moderate south-east wind was blowing. Yesterday was dull and cold, and towards evening there were indications of rain. The barometer was unsteady and falling, last night's reading being 29.85. FORECAST. 'From readings taken at 4 p.m.) General Situation—An anti-cyclone is moving off New Zealand, and an extensive cyclonic depression is approaching from the westward. Winds—Moderate to strong northeasterly to northerly of gale force in many places, changing to southerly in the south after from 24 to 36 hours. Seas (New Zealand waters)— Heavy south of Cape Egmont, elsewhere rough. Eastern Tasman Sea—Strong northerly winds to gale backing to westerly in the northern portion. Later to southerly generally; seas rough to heavy. Weather —■ Becoming unsettled, cloudy, and misty; general rain developing with many heavy falls likely, particularly in districts with a westerly aspect; mild temperatures.
