STUDY OF NATIONAL PROBLEMS.
CONFERENCE PROPOSED. • rn.iJbL /.asocimo.; TLt/-.uiv .a '• WELLINGTON, July 26. Addressing a group of business men on the aims of the National Reconstruction Association, Mr J. D. McMillan said that it was proposed to hold a conference in Wellington "of such an impressive and statesmanlike character that it would arrest the attention of the whole Dominion." In addition to representatives of the branches it would be suggested that consideration should be given to inviting the attendance of the mayors of the four centres, the heads of the religious denominations, the presidents of the chambers of commerce, the secretaries of the Workers' Educational Associations, the leaders of the political parties, and c.Ticials of the unemployed workers and workers' federations. The problems proposed to be tackled are unemployment, currency reform, and leisure and its utilisation. It is also proposed to study the occupational group movement, vital points in the primary and secondary industries, and the planning and control of new business and industrial enterprises in New Zealand.
