On the motion of Messrs W. H. Sarney and J. W. Smith, it was decided to forward the letter, together with a copy of the union's rules, to the New Zealand Rugby Union. The Mount Somers Club wrote that the union was departing from the principle of the scheme of playing the junior competition in two section* when it asked Mount Somers to make two further trips to Ashburton, thereby incurring the sanje heavy cost of transport as it would have done if the competition had been played in the usual way.
