CHESS MATCH.

CIIRISTCHURCII V. KAIAPOI. On Saturday evening a team of five players from the Canterbury Ches? Club visited the Kaiapoi Chess Club and played a friendly match which resulted in a draw. Each player engaged in two games with his oooonent, the final score being five wins and five losses to each club. The Kaiapoi Club has been in existence for only a few months, but the progress that its members have made was shown on Saturday night. A return match has been arranged for the night of August 5, and will'bo played -n the rooms of the Canterbury Chess Club. The players taking part were:— Kaiapoi—A. Gordon, R. F. Joyce, W. Hart, S. Raymond, E. Price. Christchurch—L. J. Mitchell, G. G. Parkins, G. M. Keys, J. Hunter, and F. Vincent.
