WINTER SHOW.

FEATURES OF EXHIBITION THIS YEAR.

If there is one fixture more than another that has won widespread popularity among all classes of the community it is the Canterbury Winter Show and Exhibition. Opening in the King Edward Barracks on Saturday, August 5, this year's effort holds every promise of being able to extend still further the widespread appreciation of the varied and instructive entertainment provided by exhibits of exceptional interest splendidly displayed in attractive surroundings, and enhanced by good music and other novel items of amusement. Among the new features of this year's Winter Show and Exhibition there will be a daily attendance estimating competition, free of entrance charge to those who attend the exhibition, and the competitor whose estimate is correct, or nearest to the correct paid attendance for that day will win a prize of £l, and the second nearest a prize of 10s. In the event of two or more putting in the same estimate, the prizes will be divided equally. Though primarily for the purpose of developing a deeper appreciation by the public of our secondary industries, the Winter Show and Exhibition also succeeds in entertaining many thousands, both day and night, during the whole of the time it is open to the public.
