"Parts of the hospital are fairly infested with rats and mice, and the position is pretty serious," stated the medical superintendent (Dr. A. C. B. Biggs) at a meeting of the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board, when the house committee recommended that the floors in the Midgley and Coleman Wards, having shrunk, should be attended to by the foreman of works.
