Other Centres. r Auckland—The light south-east wind and continuous heavy rain experienced during the forenoon of Saturday was followed by cloudy, unsettled conditions until yesterday morning, when the wind changed to the south-west. The weather was boisterous' and threatening, occasional light showers being experienced. Wellington—Wet and cold weather prevailed during the week-end. There were frequent showers on Saturday, and heavy rain fell during the night. Yesterday was overcast, with a keen southerly wind. Drizzling rain fell in the forenoon, but the afternoon was fine.

Dunedin—A heavy fog prevailed on Saturday morning, followed by an overcast sky. A light north-east wind was blowing. Yesterday was fine, but a cold soutn-west breeze was blowing. The barometer fell to 29.85.

FORECAST. 'From readings taken at 4 p.m.)

General situation—A deep cyclone is now centred north of the Chatham Islands, while pressure is rising slowly to the westward. Winds—South-west to southerly, moderate to strong generally, and in places reaching gale force, but decreasing slowly. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Heavy between Kaikoura and East Cape, elsewhere rather rough to rough.

Eastern Tasman sea—Moderate to strong, but decreasing southerly winds, seas rather rough to rough, but moderating. Weather—Mainly fine in the western districts of the South Island, elsewhere still rather'unsettled and further scattered showers, but improving gradually; temperatures . cold and many frosts.
