HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The new management committee of j the Canterbury Horticultural Society met last evening. Mr F. J. Shanks was elected chairman, and Mr L. B. Hart deputy-chairman. Messrs M. J. Barnett, J. A. Macpherson, W. J. Humm, the president, and the secretary were appointed to consider the conditions governing the competition for the Loader Cup, and to report to the committee. It was decided to award the Royal Horticultural Society's Banksia medal for the year to the rose section. Sub-committees were elected as follows: Executive: Messrs E. E. Wiltshire, M. J. Barnett, L. B. Hart, H. Otley, the chairman, and the secretary. Programme: Messrs L. T. K. Allison, E. E. Wiltshire, J. A. Macphersno, L. B. Hart, the chairman, and the secretary. Show committees—Daffodil: Messrs J. A. Macpherson, M. J. Barnett, and C. H. Moir; rose: Messrs M. PryceJones, C. D. Marks, and L. T. K. Allison; gladiolus: Messrs R. J. Christensen, W. Main, and F. J. Shanks; chrysanthemum: Messrs H. Otley, L. B. Hart, and J.
