L The Paris correspondent of the "Morning Post" says it is reported that English insurance companies have filed a claim to recover £BOO,OOO paid on account of the fire in the Georges Phillipar, oa the ground that structural and electrical defects, and the negligence of officers, caused the disaster. , [On May 16, 1932, George Phiffipar (16,990 tons), the latest liner ol the Messageries Maritimes, which wa« launched in 1930, caught fire near Cap# Gardafui, at the eastern enu of the Gulf of Aden. She was bound from Marseilles to China. She had ..cost £1,000,000 to build. About 36 persons were lost.]
