NORTHERN A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the. Northern Agricultural and Pastoral Association, was held at Rangiora. yesterday. The president, Mr ,D. Chapman, and 25 members were present. It was decided to hold the annual show on Friday, November 3. Judges were selected and class stewards and other officials were appointed.. The show schedule was also revised, with minor alterations.
A recommendation to bold, dog trials at the show was discussed, but it was decided not to hold them on the same date as the show, but probably a week after the show. It was decided to delete the poultry section classes from the schedule.
The Hon. D. Buddo, M.L.Ci, wrote accepting office as patron of the club. Mr R. McGillivray, Fields Superintendent ,of th« Department of Agriculture, wrote regarding a lecture at Rangiora oh pasture strains and certification of seed, stating that he would meet the farmers at some suitable date. It was decided to invite Mr McGillivray to give a'.lecture on or about July 26. The offer of Mr A. H. Scott to present a prize worth £1 Is, in the domestic section, [for the best special recipe for a fruit I cake at the next show was accepted. |Mr W. R. Wilkinson, secretary to the Kowai County Council, wrote about the formation of a Forestry Advisory Committee for tree-planting in North Canterbury, and asking the committee to appoint two representatives. It was decided to appoint Messrs R. Mcintosh arm W. C. Prosser. The New Zealand Milking Shorthorns' Association wrote offering a special prize of £2 in the milking shorthorn classes at the next show. The offer was accepted: Messrs G. M. Morgan, J. L. Kinley, R. Newman, H. B. Catherwo<>d„qnd .G. W. Jackson were elected members of the association. Three nominations were received and, accepted. The treasurer's statement showed that receipts from May 17 to July 12 were £IOO 5s 6d, with £SO 18s 9d brought forward, making a total of £l2l Is, payments ampuntea to £56 12s 4d. leaving a credit balance of £64 8s lOd. Accounts amounting to £1 15s were passed for payment. Suggestions from Mr E. D. R... Smith, on how to improve the popularity of the show, and a report by Mr D. A. Campbell on junior classes for poultry and calf clubs and other junior classes, and also a special report by the see? retary, Mr N. C. Prosser, oh curtailing expenditure, were taken la committee.
