Gome ?harp criticism was levelled against the policy or the New Zealand Meat Producers' Board at a meeting of the Dominion executive of the Farmers' Union to-day. Mr A. Dickie moved on behalf of Southland: "That the grading of our meat be reduced to grades in which it is sold in London, and that the Meat Board be urged to protect the individual producer and exporter from being eliminated as an exporter by the increasing costs thrust on him if he consigns." Mr Dickie said New Zealand meat, on reaching the retail shops in Britain, Was Jumped. Mr J. E. The directors of the New Zealand Insurance Co. recommend a final dividend of one shilling a share for the half-year, making the year's dividend two shillings, or 10 per cent., the same as last year. [The net profit for the year ending March 31, 1932, was £156,761, the net premiums being £1,050,351. The paidup capital is £1,500,000, and the reserves at the last balance £1,136,955 which included the reserve for unexpired risks.] THEATRE DIVIDEND.

The accounts of Dominion Breweries:, Ltd., covering the third year of operations of the company to March 31, disclose a loss of £14,002, after full provision for taxation, depreciation, bad debts, and the creation of a contingency reserve of £2OOO. This compares with a profit of £1044 last year and £4392 in the first year of business. By the use of a reserve of £4OOO, and the amount brought in from la3t year, £l-136. the debit balance is reduced to £8566, which ii being carried forward. HIKURANGI COAL COMPANY. A proposal to go into voluntary liquidation will be considered at an extraordinary general meeting of fchareholders in the Hikurangi Coal Co., Ltd., on July 20. The company has been in operation for 40 years. At the date of the last annual balance • December 31, 1932) the accumulated losses stood at £32,295. The company has a capital of £70,000 in 140,000 shares of 10s each, consisting of 45,000 ordinary shares, 45,000 preference shares, and 50,000 A preference shares, all fully paid. No dividends have been paid for some years. In addition, the company has issued £30,000 of 10 per cent, debentures. It is understood that the debentureholders of the company propose taking over the mine and a new company will be formed.
