ANNUAL SOCIAL.
The Beckenham Bowling Club held its annual social and prize-giving in the pavilion. The Canterbury Centre was represented by Mr C. J. Morrison (president) and Mr A. Dickson (treasurer). Items were given at intervals by Mesdames Ledsham and Hayden. Miss Inniss, and Messrs Sands and Clegs. Dance music was supplied by F. Judkins's orchestra. i Prizes and trophies won during the season were presented by Mr C. J. Morrison to the following:— Men's championship singles, Mr W. Healey; championship doubles, Messrs E. J. Mulligan and P. S. H. Chambers; championship rinks, Messrs F. Robson. J. Parr, H. Williams, and E. W. Pearce; handicap singles, Mr D. O'Connell; handicap doubles, Messrs T. H. Watts and F. May; Keighley cup, Messrs T. H. Watts and H. Lawrence; mixed rinks tournament, Mrs Sampson, Messrs F. Burgoyne, W. Heaiey, ana R. McDonald. Mr Morrison also took the opportunity of presenting to the club and to Messrs Parr, Dann, Pearce, and Healey certificates issued by the Canterbury Centre. in the absence of Mrs Rowntrce, president ot the ladies' centre, Mrs Boon, president of the ladies' club, presented trophies won by lady members as follows:—championsnip singles, Mrs R. McDonald, runnerup, Mrs Cameron; championship doubles, Mesdames McDonald ana Hetherton; handicap doubles, Mesdames Newberry and Burton; Coleby cup, Mesdames Dann and Newberry; cnampionship rinks, Mrs White, Miss Taylor, Mrs Boon, Mrs Smart; Rowntree cup, Mrs May.
There are about 340 parts in a vacuum cleaner. The wheels of a standard cleaner revolve 8000 times in travelling a mile.
