RETURNED SOLDIERS' ASSOCIATION.
WOMEN'S AUXILIARY. It v,as reported at the meeting of the Women's Auxiliary of the Christchurch Returned Soldiers' Association yesterday afternoon that the receipts from the bridge party, held on June 22, amounted to more than £66. The Rev. F. T. Read, president of the association, attended the meeting and expressed the thanks of the benevolent committee of the association to the auxiliary for the valuable and welcome assistance rendered by the members. The meeting was attended by Mesdames H. T. J. Thacker (chairwoman), C. J. Treleaven, E. Davies, L. H. Powell, G. T. Baker J. I. Royds, H. A. Bishop, Misses A. Bowker, C. Rogers, T. Raphael, A. M. Cuthbert, E. M. Cuthbert (honorary secretary), and Mrs J. S. Kelly (honorary assistant secretary). The honorary secretary reported that to date the amount received from the bridge party, held on June i2, was £66 Bs, and that there were several small amounts yet to come in. The expenses had been 20s 3d. i The report was received, and it was decided to accord votes of thanks to Mr M. J. Barnett, superintendent of parks and gardens to the Christchurch City Council, for the loan of, pot plants for decorative purposes, and' also to several tradesmen for their assistance. The Rev. F. T Read spoke on the | work of the executive ©f the association, and thanked the members of the auxiliary for the assistance they had rendered and still were rendering to the benevolent committee of the association. Mrs E. Davies presented the auxiliary with a beautiful piece of crochet work, and Miss A. Bowker a piece of linen on which a design in ! crochet is to be worked. Both gifts are to be disposed of for the benefit of the funds of the auxiliary. Votes [ of thanks were accorded to the givers. I A vote of condolence with Mrs A. I Templar, a member of the auxiliary, |on the death of her brother, was I agreed to. Mr G. W. Lloyd, a former president of the association, sent a message by a member of the auxiliary, who had visited him in the Rannerdale Home, thanking members for their kind enquiries. It was reported that arrangements had been made to send supplies of sauces, chutneys, and jams to the camp | of returned -soldiers at Glenroy. I _
