SCIENCE CONGRESS.
VARIOUS PAPERS READ. VANCOUVER, June 12. Addressing the Pacific Science Congress, Mr Edw;in Cheel, of Sydney, stated that Australia had imported more than 800 plant species, some of which had proved commercial assets and others dangerous pests. Papers were read by representatives of Canada, the United States, Malaya, and Japan showing similar results.
Dr. Max Henry, of the New South Wales Department of Agriculture, read a paper on pleuro-pneumonia among herds in Pacific countries. A paper by Dr. P. Marshall, of Wellington (consulting geologist to the Research Department), dealt with the physiography of New Zealand, and a paper by Dr. E. Kidson, of Wellington (New Zealand Government Meteorologist), dealth with observations, in the upper atmosphere in relation to airship navigation.
Information on the life of the Maori was contained in a paper forwarded by the Hon. Sir Apirana Ngata.
