ST. ALBANS CLUB. THIRTY-FIRST ANNUAL MEETING. At the thirty-first annual meeting of the St. Albans Bowling and Croquet Club Mr R. H. Mitchell presided. The report said that the levies 6f £1 and 10s imposed respectively on bowling and croquet members had enabled the club to meet its immediate difficulties, but that it would be necessary for the new committee to give careful attention to finance. The total membership was 107. The bowling section of the club had been represented in the pennant competition and centre championships, but it had not been possible to send players to Wellington to compete for the silver kitty. The club competitions had been won as follows:—Champion rinks, W. M. Hay, C. E. Wilson, P. Stewart, and A. Baldwin (s); pairs, A. P. King, and H. B. Oakey (s); singles, G. L. Home; handicap singles, G. L. Harn&, doubles, W. M. Hindmarsh and B. Penlington (s); afternoon doubles, W. M. Hindmarsh and A. Baldwin (s); two bowl pairs, J. D. Ren ton and G. Brass (s); Jordan buttons, H. D. Lowry and J. D. Renton. The match against Christchurch for the Jordan Shield had been won by Christchurch by 211 points _to 178 points. On the opening day of the reason Mr R. W. Brown had been presented with a life member's badge. Croquet Section. The croquet section had entered two teams for the centre competition, and several members had played in the junior championship competition. Several club tournaments had been arranged, prizes being presented by the president, trie captain, Mesdames Papps, Parish, and Wilkinson, and Messrs W. M. Hindmarsh and F. T. Evans. The club competitions had been won by the following:—Champion rose bowl and Willis Cup handicap, Mrs Nicholls; singles and junior championship, Croxton brooch, Mrs Syme. The thanks of the club were extended to the green superintendent (Mr J. N. du Feu), the greenkeeper (Mr McNabb), Mrs du Feu and Miss Marker, who had arranged card parties; Mrs Nicholls, who had presented for disposal a tray and candlestick; and the press.

The financial statement showed a balance of assets over liabilities of £1044 lis lOd.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted.

On the motion of Mr L. B. Jordan, it was decided to amend the rules of the club so that in future the financial, year will end on April 30 instead of May 31. , It was agreed that the club's delegate to the centre be instructed to support the proposal of Mr B. C, Brydon; bowling representatives. on executive committee. Messrs B. Penlington and J. D. Renton; delegate to centre, Mr A. J. B. Haydock. BECKENHAM CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Beckenham Bowling Club was held at the club rooms, Fisher street. The president, Mr C. F. Dobbs, presided. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The winners of club competitions for the season were as follows:—Champion singles, W. Healey; champion doubles, E. J. Mulligan, and P. G. N. Chambers; champion rinks, F. Robson, J. Parr, H. Williams, and E. W. Pearce; handicap singles, D. O'Connell; handicap doubles, T. H. Watts and F. May; Keighley Cup, T. H. Watts and H. Laurence; Chegwin Memorial Shield, S. Lorking, F. Robson. J. Williams, and W. Healey. The colts' team were runners-up in the centre's competition, being beaten in the final by a team from the Re turned Soldiers' Association. For the first time the Easter tournament was won by representatives of the club, and they were heartily congratulated on their success. The team was J Parr, J. Dann, E. W. Pearce, and W. Healey. The club was to be congratulated on having a greenkeeper who took such a keen interest in the green, and the thanks of all playing members were extended to Mr Pearce for his untiring efforts in keeping the green in such good playing order during the season.

It was decided to inaugurate a president's rinks competitions, players to be classified as leads, scorers, measurers, and skips. The following officers were elected: President, Mr J. Dann; vice-president, Mr J. Morrison; secretary, Mr F. May; treasurer, Mr J. Williams; committee, Messrs Wilkinson. Laws. Robson, Chambers, and Heyward: sole selectpr, Mr W. Healey. It was decided to leave the date of the annual social and presentation of prizes to the incoming committee. The ladies had had a most successful season, and they were thanked for their services to the club and their social activities, which were greatly appreciated. ' The past president and centre delegate, Mr C. F. Dobbs, was re-elected to represent the club, and he was thanked for his past services. » NEW BRIGHTON CLUB'S REPORT

The twentieth annua! report of the New Brighton Bowling Club, to be presented at the annual meeting on June 21, states that the present membership shows a slight improvement on the previous season. There are three life members and 46 active members.

Although, owing to the depression, there lias been a falling off in reve-j nue, careful administration has enabled an improvement to "be made in the bank balance. The green hasi been in better condition than for some] years past, and reflects credit on Mr H. Beardsley's supervision and the, efforts of the green keeper, Mr W. Hall. It is hoped to complete the eradication of coarse grass and clover! this season. Mr W. Larcomb is again attending to the flower beds, which.

have been greatly admired during the season.

The season opened on September 17 and was extended over the late Easter. The interest in the club competitions was well maintained, an 3 special mention is made of Mr C. T. Middleton's team of young players, who reached the final of the rinks, and also of Mr L. W. Besley's feat in winning the singles, pairs, and rinks. The competitions on the two-life system resulted as follows: Champion rinks: L. Lawrence, T. Robins, G. W. Bishop, and L. W. Besley. Champion pairs: L. W. Besley and J. T. Bisman. Champion singles: L. W. Besley. Handicap singles: L. Lawrence. Colt's Cup: D, Mcßumey. Williams' Shield: W. Taylor. G. Mapstone, W. Wfiiteley, and W. Dean. Greenslade ferns; W. Whiteley, W. Carmalt, J. T. Bisman, and W. Hooker. Jackson buttons: W. Carmalt and J. T. Bisman. Chiver's ribbon: F. D. Minson. In the rooster pennant competition, the entry of eight rinks resulted in the club not finishing in a high place in the competition. The interborough match, played at Sumner, resulted in a win for New Brighton by 2.25 points to 118 points.
