DAVIS CUP TENNIS.

AUSTRALIANS LOSE DOUBLES TO SOUTH AFRICA. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION- —BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH —COPYRIGHT.) LONDON, June 12. In the Davis Cup competition, European zone quarter-finals, V. G. Kirby and N. G. Farquharson (South Africa) defeated J. B. Crawford and V. McGrath (Australia) 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. The South Africans' win was due to superior combination, and also to the Australian pair's lack of understanding. The Australians led 4-1 in the first set, but thereafter the South Africans dominated the game, and the Australians never looked like winning. The form of Crawford and McGrath was only mediocre. The African? stormed the net at every available opportunity, and the Australians found difficulty in passing them, while their tosses were killed by the Africans. McGrath's attack lacked punch.
