Bishop Brodie arrived on Saturday from Christchurch, and yesterday administered confirmation to more than 200 young parsons at St,; Patrick's Church, Greymouth. Miss M. O'Brien, supervisor of the Greymouth telephone exchange,- who has been visiting Auckland, returned to Greymouth on Saturday. Mr James Grant, who was xecently married, was presented by the of the Grey Power Board on Saturday with a canteen, of cutlery, an alarm clock, and a set of coat nooks. Mr A. J. MacDowall, secretary of the board, made the presentation! Golf. The annual, inter-club match between the Greymouth and Hokitika Golf Clubs was played yesterday for the Caliari and Field cups on . the Greymouth Club's -links, at. Omoto, when the home club was, successful by 25 points to 11. In the captain v. the vice-captain's team match, the former team was defeated by seven games to nine. v. Association FootbalL The Westland Football Association's fixtures for Saturday were played in the best of weather, with grounds in good order, and before good attendances. At Cobden, the home team defeated Greymouth by five to one. For Cobden goals were scared by Maughan, McGougan, Marley, and W. Timlin. For Greymouth. Be Freatus scored. At Taylorville, Runanga beat the home team by two to none., Bunanga scorers being Craig and Clark. Runanga scored their goals in the early part of the first spelL The junior fixtures resulted: Grey 1 drew with Taylorville, two aH; Blackball defeated Dobson, nine to one.
