CHRISTCHURCH BRANCH. ' A meeting of the sub-committee:of the Christchurch branch *of the Red Cross Society set up to . organise : a "bridge week" was held at the' Bed Cross rooms yesterday morning. -JPij*sent: Lady Wigram (in the chair), and representatives from sub-centres,: Mr« H. G. Livingstone (Lower Riccarton). Mrs. Forbes (Opawa), Mrs Flatter (Merivale), Mrs Lawrence (Fendalton), and Mrs Bishop (New Brighton), and Mesdames Treleaven, Benzie, Wyatt, and Miss M. G. Havelaar." '- Lady .Wigram announced that it had been definitely settled that the {'bridge week" would begin with a large bridge party at Frascati on Monday, July .10, at 7.45 pjn. One hundred, tables will be available. , Lady Wigram, further stated that an appeal would 'Shortly be. made through the ibcal' tor widespread help in this effort. The need for' funds in order to supply;;fQnjpnr service men and -their families with clothing this ..winter, , was. very great. It was hoped'that "the beginning on July 10 would not <rajy mean this large party at Frascati, but "many homes ;in Christchurih wbuld at least have one: table vjfpr bridge oh some day during that time.
